One of my close friends, Chrisie is getting married in October. I was able to attend her wedding shower this past weekend for just a little while before I was off to work. This is the card I made for her. This is basically the same card I posted a couple of weeks ago only I added the wedding cakes from “Fun and Fast Notes” and some organdy ribbon. Thanks for looking!
Congrats Chrisie!!

A wedding shower for my friend
A quick thank you
Sorry, super quick post tonight. I made this for one of Carrie’s challenges last week. Hope ya like.
Top Tent
Here is my first tent top card. I just threw it together with some of the leftover scraps I had from the last two cards I posted. The main piece is 4 1/4 ” x 3 3/4″. The scalloped piece hanging over the top makes the card a total of 4 1/4″ tall so that is will still fit in an A2 envelope. I used my SU markers and a blender pen to color the flower and bird. OH and major excitement, Mr. Brown brought my SU scalloped punch yesterday. They have been listed as back ordered until September, but I ordered it anyway just to see and here it is!!! The JOY!
Today is the boys first day back to school. They went last night to meet their teachers and we are all very pleased with the classes they are in. I am so excited for them, because I think this is one of the best times in their lives. Not a lot of stress or peer pressure yet at this age. It is just good to be a kid! I am also looking forward to seeing my friends that I have missed over the summer. The summer seems to have just flown bye this year, guess its because I have been so busy. I am definitely looking forward to fall now and all of the colors and smells it brings. Won’t be long!
Have a super day
Thanks for looking!

You “Wanted” it Carrie…
Thanks Carrie for this challenge. I love this set, but it is one of those that is definitely a challenge to use. I wanted to try this layout, so I challenged myself with that. The piece with “Wanted” flips down and the piece under it flips up. I think this kind of card is usually turned horizontal, but I had to be different. The colors I used were Basic Gray, Wild Wasabi, Very Vanilla and Barely Banana. With the main floral image I set one of the new big eyelets in the center then I stuck a dimensional on the back side. I then pierced through the center, all the way through the dimensional and placed a green brad (from the soft subtles pack). You could also set a regular sized eyelet in the center as well. The actual word “WANTED” was inked in Basic Gray, but I stamped off once so it wouldn’t be so dark. I wanted to add a word or words in with the “wanted”, because I didn’t think it made sense by itself. This was tough, because you can’t really put the word friends or love with wanted, because that makes you sound needy. LOL! So while looking though my sets I came across one of my favorites. The words “Days” and “Together” are both from the set “Happy Everything”. I just love that set and use it a ton. I don’t know…what do you think? Don’t forget to go to Carrie’s blog, Artistic Avenger, to check out what she has made with this set since she was the challenger. I can’t wait to see what she has come up with. Thanks for looking!
Have a super weekend!

The Challenge…
Carrie, the Artistic Avenger has challenged me to a dual. Well, a dual of sorts I guess. Carrie got in touch with me and asked me to come up with a card creation using the “Wanted” set from Stampin’ UP!. We will both post on our blogs what we have come up with using this set. I am so excited as this is the first time I have had a chance to stamp all week. Aly has had an ear infection (she is feeling better now) and I have been working a bunch of hours, therefore it has been a little hard to find time to get my stamps dirty. So, come back tomorrow (Friday) and check us both out!
Faux Suede
The technique for part of this card is called “Faux Suede”, but I think it also looks like felt. I work at a little boutique and we are getting in all kinds of beautiful Fall items. One of the items that we are carrying right now are felt purses. Of course when I see all of these fun fashion items I immediately list off in my head which SU colors I can use to recreate the look on a card. The purse that inspired me to make this card is (in SU colors) Basic Gray, Purely Pommegranate, River Rock and Bayou Blue. See the “In Colors” really are “IN”. I took a piece of basic gray and really roughed it up by rolling it over the edge of my table. This loosens up the fibers so that you can peel the card stock apart into two layers. When you pull about the cardstock you end up with a fibery (is that a word?) felt or suede look, thus Faux Suede. I did this on both the basic gray and all of the little flowers, which were punch out with the “Three For You” punch. Once I put all the pieces on the card I faux stitched with my white gel pen and piercing tool. I used the little flower type stamp from “Wanted” inked up with Basic Gray and stamped it all over the right side of this card. Then I used the Crop-O-Dile to dry emboss the little cirlces along the side. I then took a few pieces and and ran them back and forth like you would to make a paper fan and layered them on the side.
That is it! Hope that made sense. It has been a long day. Aly isn’t feeling good and I am pretty sure she has an ear infection. We will be going to the Doctor tomorrow…poor baby. I hate it when she doesn’t feel good.

Fabulous Flower
I have been wanting to play with this new set ” Fabulous Flowers” since I first saw it in the new SU 2007/2008 Fall and Winter catty. I think this is a gorgeous flower with so many possibilities. When I saw this set used for the “Emerging Colors” technique on Split Coast Stampers I had to try it out. When I was done I took the flower a bit further and cut the tips of each petal curling them up a bit. Very time consuming, but I LOVE this flower! I can’t wait to see what else I can do with it.
Before I go, I just wanted to say congrats to 1 Crafty Gal. Karie is expecting a baby…Congrats!! I wish you and your family the very best!!
Have a super day! I will be back at school helping out with registration and then off to work the rest of the day. I think I am one of the few Moms that are not ready to go back to school yet. I am not ready for homework again… argh!

Three cakes…
Hmmm… if you could pick out three flavors of cake what would you pick? I would of course have to have some chocolate, maybe lemon and possibly white with raspberry filling.
I know this stamp is “suppose to be” for a wedding, but I thought it would be cute in different colors and for a birthday. I actually paper pieced the cake part, which means I stamped the image on the whisper white cardstock. I then stamped the image again on three different colors of card stock and cut out just the cake pieces. I took the cake images and wrapped them around my marker so that they were rounded. Then I put a small piece of dimensionals down on the main image and laid the rounded cake on top. This makes the cakes pop off the card and appear to be round. The cake stands were highlighted with Bashful Blue and then I used Crystal Effects to make them look like glass. It is hard to see in the picture, but hopefully you get the point. Hope you like!
